Description
Enjoy the crispy delight of Homemade BBQ Chips, flavorful and customizable to rival any store-bought snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large russet potato (Approximately 6–8 ounces)
- 2 cups cold water (For soaking)
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (Adjust to taste)
- enough frying oil (Such as vegetable or peanut)
Instructions
- Start by thoroughly washing your large russet potato. If you prefer, peel it for a smoother texture, or keep the skin on for added crunch and nutrition.
- Cut the potato into thin, even slices or any desired shape. Aim for about 1/8 inch thick for that perfect chip crunch you’ll love.
- In a bowl, combine 3/4 cup of cold water with the smoked paprika, onion powder, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and chili powder.
- Immerse your potato slices into the spice mixture and let them soak for at least 30 minutes.
- While the potatoes are soaking, heat your frying oil in a fryer or a deep pan over medium-high heat, about 350°F.
- Fry your potato slices in the hot oil until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Alternatively, brush the slices lightly with oil and bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 20-25 minutes.
