Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, cut into tablespoon pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs, 11 full sheet graham crackers
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups cold heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 13.4 oz can dulce de leche
  • 2 large bananas, sliced
  • Toppings: chocolate shavings or toffee bits

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Place the butter in a medium saucepan and melt over medium heat, stirring often, until it foams, smells nutty, and browns, about 5 to 7 minutes. Scrape the browned butter into a small bowl and set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, stir together the graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, and browned butter with a fork until the crumbs are moist.
  4. Press the mixture into the center and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate or dish, using a measuring cup or glass bottom to press it in firmly.
  5. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Let the crust cool to room temperature.
  6. While the crust cools, make the whipped cream. In a stand mixer or large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.
  7. Evenly spread the dulce de leche over the cooled pie crust.
  8. Neatly arrange the banana slices on top.
  9. Gently spread the whipped cream over the banana layer.
  10. Top with chocolate curls or toffee bits. Chill the pie for 2 to 3 hours before serving.
