Description
Decadent Boozy Black Forest Trifle with Cherries and Cream
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pack Chocolate Swiss Roll
- 1 can Cherry Pie Filling
- 1/4 cup Custard Powder
- 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
- 2 cups Milk
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 cup Double Cream
- 1/4 cup Cherry Brandy
Instructions
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the custard powder and cocoa powder with a splash of milk until smooth.
- In a saucepan, heat the remaining milk over medium heat until it reaches a gentle boil.
- Gradually pour the custard mixture into the hot milk, stirring continuously. Cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once thickened, remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle a thin layer of sugar over the surface to prevent a skin.
- Slice the Chocolate Swiss Roll into rounds and layer them at the bottom of a serving bowl. Drizzle half the cherry brandy over the cake.
- Gently spread half of the chocolate custard over the roll, then add a layer of cherry pie filling.
- Repeat layering with another round of Swiss roll, remaining cherry brandy, and remaining custard.
- Whip the double cream until soft peaks form.
- Spread the whipped cream over the top of the trifle and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
