Decadent Boozy Black Forest Trifle with Cherries and Cream


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pack Chocolate Swiss Roll
  • 1 can Cherry Pie Filling
  • 1/4 cup Custard Powder
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Double Cream
  • 1/4 cup Cherry Brandy

Instructions

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the custard powder and cocoa powder with a splash of milk until smooth.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the remaining milk over medium heat until it reaches a gentle boil.
  3. Gradually pour the custard mixture into the hot milk, stirring continuously. Cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Once thickened, remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle a thin layer of sugar over the surface to prevent a skin.
  5. Slice the Chocolate Swiss Roll into rounds and layer them at the bottom of a serving bowl. Drizzle half the cherry brandy over the cake.
  6. Gently spread half of the chocolate custard over the roll, then add a layer of cherry pie filling.
  7. Repeat layering with another round of Swiss roll, remaining cherry brandy, and remaining custard.
  8. Whip the double cream until soft peaks form.
  9. Spread the whipped cream over the top of the trifle and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
