- 150 g Soft Cream Cheese (Any plain variety will do.)
- 1 tsp Ground Black Pepper (Optional seasoning that enhances flavor.)
Instructions
- Combine plain flour and salt in a bowl before rubbing in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the grated cheddar cheese, then gradually add water until a dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the chilled dough and fit it into a greased flan dish, allowing for some overhang. Cover with parchment paper and weigh it down with baking beans, then bake at 180°C (360°F) for 10 minutes. Remove the beans, trim the edges, and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
- Cut the fresh asparagus into small pieces, saving the tender tips for decoration. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, single cream, soft cream cheese, salt, and ground black pepper until smooth.
- Evenly distribute the chopped asparagus in the baked pastry case. Pour the egg mixture over the asparagus, making sure to place the reserved tips on top for a beautiful presentation. Sprinkle with extra cheese for good measure!
- Place the assembled quiche in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set and lightly golden on top.
- Allow the quiche to cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy it warm or chilled for an exquisite treat.
