Chicken Shawarma Pasta with Tahini Cream: Bold, Creamy & Full of Spice


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, sliced
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp ground coriander
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1012 oz (≈300g) pasta (rigatoni, penne, or shells)
  • ⅓ cup tahini (well-stirred)
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 large garlic clove, grated or minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup warm water, plus more if needed
  • Chopped parsley
  • Chili flakes
  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Cook the chicken in a pan until browned.
  2. Add sliced onion and sauté until soft.
  3. Stir in cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  4. Drizzle olive oil over the mixture.
  5. In a bowl, combine tahini, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and warm water to create the sauce.
  6. Cook the pasta according to package instructions.
  7. Mix the cooked pasta with the chicken and onion mixture.
  8. Pour the tahini sauce over the pasta and mix well.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley, chili flakes, and serve with lemon wedges.
