Description

Transform the classic holiday drink into a delightful spread perfect for breakfast or dessert. This creamy eggnog spread is easy to make, rich in flavor, and makes a wonderful homemade gift.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Eggnog (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1/2 cup Sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch (omitting yields a softer texture)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon (adjust to preference)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg (freshly grated is best)
  • 1 tablespoon Butter (fully melted)
  • 2 tablespoons Dark Rum (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered Pectin (optional, for jam-like consistency)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine eggnog and cornstarch. Whisk until smooth over medium heat. Stir for about 5 minutes until it thickens.
  2. Gradually stir in sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg into the warm mixture. Cook on medium heat, whisking for 5-7 minutes until thick.
  3. Lower heat and mix in melted butter, vanilla extract, and dark rum. Cook for 1-2 minutes until flavors meld.
  4. For a firmer consistency, whisk in powdered pectin while simmering on low for another 1-2 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and cool for 5-10 minutes. Pour into jars, seal tightly, and refrigerate for up to two weeks.

Notes

  • Whisk cornstarch with eggnog before heating to avoid lumps.
