- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (for rice)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
Instructions
- Cut chicken into 1-inch pieces. In a bowl, season chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add seasoned chicken in a single layer; sear for 3-4 minutes per side until golden. Remove chicken and set aside.
- Rinse long-grain white rice under cold water until clear. In a medium saucepan, combine rinsed rice, chicken broth, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover tightly, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let rest, covered, for 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
- In the same skillet, melt unsalted butter over medium heat. Sprinkle in all-purpose flour; cook, stirring, for 1-2 minutes to create a roux. Gradually whisk in whole milk until the sauce thickens and smooths. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Return seared chicken to the sauce. Stir gently to coat. Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and cook for 10-15 minutes until chicken is cooked through and tender, and flavors meld.
- Adjust sauce seasoning if needed. Serve creamy smothered chicken hot over the fluffy rice.
