Description

Easy homemade pimento cheese spread, a classic Southern recipe perfect for sandwiches, appetizers, and holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups sharp yellow cheddar cheese (8 ounces)
  • 4 ounces pimento peppers (drained and chopped)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise (or a mixture of sour cream, Greek yogurt and mayonnaise)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional – more or less to taste)

Instructions

  1. Pat the pimento pepper dry with a paper towel removing any excess liquid.
  2. Chop the pimento pepper into small chunks.
  3. Add the mayonnaise, sharp cheddar cheese, and pimento peppers to a large mixing bowl and stir together until well blended.
  4. Add the salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper (optional), and garlic powder to the mixture.
  5. Stir together until all seasonings are thoroughly combined with the cheese mixture.
  6. For best results, chill overnight in the fridge. At a minimum chill for at least one hour before serving.

  • Serve with crackers, vegetables, or as a sandwich spread.
