- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Cooking spray or oil for greasing
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, a pinch of sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a stand mixer bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, butter, salt, and egg. Add yeast mixture.
- Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing with dough hook until dough forms.
- Knead dough for 6–8 minutes using mixer, or 10 minutes by hand, until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours.
- Punch down dough, divide into 15 pieces, and shape into balls.
- Place dough balls in a greased 9×13 pan and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 18–22 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush hot rolls with melted butter and let cool slightly before serving.
