  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Toss sliced potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika until evenly coated.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with a little olive oil. Sear steak pieces for 2–3 minutes per side until just browned. Set aside.
  3. Melt butter and stir in minced garlic. Cook gently for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Layer half the potatoes in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Add half the steak, drizzle with garlic butter, and sprinkle with cheddar. Repeat layers.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until potatoes are fork-tender and cheese is golden.
  6. Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
