Description

Get cozy with my festive Gingerbread Black Tea! This drink is perfect for winter and Christmas, as the spices in the tea capture the warm, nostalgic flavors of gingerbread in every sip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 black tea bag (or 1 tsp loose-leaf black tea)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced (or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 23 whole cloves
  • 1/2 tbsp molasses or muscovado sugar
  • 1 star anise (optional)
  • Milk (optional, for a creamy version)
  • Honey or sweetener of choice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Water: In a small pot, bring water to a boil.
  2. Add Spices: Add the sliced ginger, cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise (if using) to the boiling water. Reduce the heat to low and let the spices simmer for about 5-10 minutes depending on how strong you like it.
  3. Steep the Tea: Add the black tea leaves or tea bags to the pot. Let the tea steep with the spices for about 3 minutes.
  4. Add Molasses: Stir in the molasses (or muscovado sugar) until fully dissolved. Taste and add honey or another sweetener if you’d like additional sweetness.
  5. Strain the Tea: Remove the pot from the heat and strain the tea into a mug to remove the spices and tea leaves.
  6. Optional Milk: For a creamy gingerbread latte, add a splash of warm milk or froth the milk and pour it on top.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Sip your warm, spiced Gingerbread Black Tea and enjoy the cozy, festive flavors!
