Description
A delicious burger featuring a savory mushroom topping, melted Swiss cheese, and served on a toasted pretzel bun.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 12 oz mushrooms, sliced (cremini or button)
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp thyme
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 preferred)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 2 pretzel buns, toasted
- 1 tbsp butter (for toasting)
- Fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Make the Mushroom Topping: Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook until they begin to brown. Add onions; sauté until soft and caramelized. Stir in garlic and cook 1 minute. Add Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer until glossy and deeply browned. Turn off heat and keep warm.
- Shape and Cook the Burger Patties: Divide ground beef into 2 thick patties. Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side until desired doneness. Place Swiss cheese slices on top and cover the pan to melt completely.
- Toast the Pretzel Buns: Spread a thin layer of butter on the cut sides of the buns. Toast in a skillet until golden and slightly crisp.
- Assemble the Burger: Place the cheesy burger patty on the bottom bun. Pile on a generous amount of the mushroom mixture. Sprinkle with fresh parsley (optional). Top with the pretzel bun crown.
