- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar or honey (adjust to taste)
- 1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Whipped cream
- Crushed peppermint candies
- Chocolate shavings
Instructions
- Add milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt to a small saucepan.
- Heat over medium-low heat, whisking constantly, until hot and smooth. Do not allow to boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract and vanilla extract if using.
- Pour the hot cocoa into a mug and add desired toppings such as whipped cream, crushed peppermint candies, or chocolate shavings. Serve warm.
