  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a Bundt pan thoroughly.
  2. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Beat sugar and oil until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in buttermilk, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Pour batter into pan and bake 45–55 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pan 15 minutes, then invert onto a rack to cool completely.
  7. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth and pourable.
  8. Drizzle icing over cooled cake and serve.
