- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a Bundt pan thoroughly.
- Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Beat sugar and oil until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in buttermilk, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Pour batter into pan and bake 45–55 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pan 15 minutes, then invert onto a rack to cool completely.
- Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth and pourable.
- Drizzle icing over cooled cake and serve.
