  • 1 loaf French bread (about 14 oz), cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups (355 ml) milk
  • ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • ⅓ cup (67g) granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup (71g) brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh berries, chopped nuts
  • Fresh or frozen blueberries, raspberries, or chopped apples
  • Chocolate chips or cinnamon chips
  • Chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Swirls of cream cheese or Nutella

Instructions

  1. Cut bread into 1-inch cubes. If fresh, let it sit out or lightly toast.
  2. Spray slow cooker with non-stick spray or coat with butter.
  3. Add bread cubes evenly into the slow cooker.
  4. Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Press bread down gently to soak up the mixture.
  6. Cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 2.5–3 hours, until set and golden.
  7. Scoop into bowls and top with syrup, powdered sugar, or fruit.
