- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 black tea bag (or 1 teaspoon loose-leaf black tea)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
- Pinch of ground cardamom
- Pinch of ground cloves
Instructions
- Bring 1 cup of water to a gentle boil in a small saucepan to prepare the base for the chai.
- Add the black tea bag and all the spices (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves) to the boiling water. Reduce the heat and let it simmer gently for 3 to 5 minutes to infuse the flavors deeply.
- Take out the tea bag to prevent over-brewing, then stir in 1 cup of milk. Use your preferred dairy or non-dairy milk.
- Warm the mixture gently on low heat until it’s hot but be careful not to bring it to a boil to maintain smoothness and prevent scalding.
- Stir in 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup to your desired sweetness. Add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract if using, to add a hint of rich flavor.
- Pour the chai latte into a mug and enjoy it warm for a soothing experience.
