Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (10 oz) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
- 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Make the spinach filling: In a medium bowl, mix together the spinach, cream cheese, mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
- Assemble the tree: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into a large triangle for the base. Transfer it to the baking sheet. Spread the spinach mixture evenly over the triangle.
- Roll out the second sheet of puff pastry and cut it into another large triangle. Place it on top of the filling and trim the edges to match.
- With a sharp knife, make horizontal cuts on each side of the triangle, leaving a solid strip down the center for the trunk. Twist each strip a few times to create branches.
- Add flavor: Mix melted butter with garlic powder, then brush it all over the puff pastry for a golden finish.
- Bake: Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- Cool: Let the spinach puff pastry Christmas tree cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve: Serve warm and enjoy tearing off the branches.
Notes
- Ensure spinach is well-drained to maintain pastry crispness.
- This recipe can be assembled a few hours ahead and refrigerated before baking.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven.
- The baked tree can be frozen once completely cooled, wrapped tightly in foil, for up to a month. Reheat from frozen.
