Ingredients

  • 1 can crescent roll dough (8 pieces)
  • 1 large apple, peeled and sliced into 8 wedges
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing apples)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • ½ cup (1 stick / 115 g) unsalted butter (for caramel sauce)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup apple cider or sparkling apple juice
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp cinnamon (for caramel sauce)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional Toppings: Vanilla ice cream, Powdered sugar, Extra cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C and grease a medium baking dish.
  2. Separate crescent dough triangles and toss apple wedges with melted butter, cinnamon, and optional sugar.
  3. Place one apple slice at the wide end of each triangle and roll up tightly, arranging the dumplings seam-side down in the baking dish.
  4. In a small saucepan, melt the butter for the caramel sauce, then add brown sugar, apple cider, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes until glossy and slightly thickened.
  5. Pour the warm caramel sauce evenly over the dumplings and bake for 33–38 minutes until crescent rolls are deeply golden and sauce is bubbling and thickened.
  6. Let cool for 5–10 minutes so the caramel settles before serving.

Notes

  • Best served warm with vanilla ice cream.
