Instructions

 - Cream softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
 - Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract until smooth.
 - In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
 - Gently fold in chocolate chips and crushed candy canes.
 - Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
 - Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden brown and centers are soft.
 - Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
 - Optional: Drizzle with melted white chocolate and sprinkle with extra crushed candy canes.
